The full text of this week’s commentary follows:

What would you do if your city, your community, your home were attacked by deadly missiles?

What would you do if you had 15 seconds to find shelter for you and your family before the missiles strike?

And what would you expect your government to do to protect you?

You’d be outraged, wouldn’t you? And you’d expect the government to go after the killers That’s what the people of Israel today face.

Hundreds of missiles from Hamas-ruled Gaza have rained down on Israel’s south.

Why?

Because Hamas and its allies want to kill as many Israelis, as many Jews, as possible.

But Israel will not let them succeed. It will do what it must to protect its citizens.

And Israel has received support from the U.S., Canada and Britain. Too many other countries, though, shamefully, remain silent, or can’t distinguish between the aggressor, Hamas, and the victim, Israel.

AJC calls on all countries and people of good will to speak out. Justice demands no less.
