American Jewish Committee’s centennial celebration consisted of a series of discussions between important Jewish thinkers about the Jewish community’s past and future. The papers included in this publication address the questions: how different is our religion from the religion of our ancestors? With how much hope and with how much fear should Jews look to the future? What sources of authority exist within today’s Jewish community? And how have the Holocaust and the State of Israel influenced Jewish identity? Two additional papers share reflections on AJC’s centennial and a synopsis of the Centennial Symposium.
