Recently, Jon Stewart had a terrific TV segment.
He showed clips of eight consecutive presidents telling the American people that we will reduce our oil dependence from hostile countries.
The presidents talk the talk, he suggested, but don’t walk the walk.
Sure, politicians promise and don’t deliver. What else is new?
Here’s the rub: Few issues have greater impact on our nation’s well-being than this one.
We’re sending hundreds of billions of dollars annually out of the country.
Much of the money goes to countries that despise us.
Since the 1970s, AJC has called for a sane energy policy that protects American interests.
And we’ve been leading by example. For instance, AJC was the first non-profit in the country to offer our staff cash incentives to buy fuel-efficient vehicles.
All of us can pitch in. Let’s ensure that, going forward, Jon Stewart doesn’t have new material for this topic.
