This is yet another important week for the Middle East.

Attention is focused on implementing the new UN resolution on Syria’s chemical weapons arsenal.

Big questions remain about what’s really going on in Iran. Is change afoot in its nuclear policy, or is it a big charade, packaged in a charm offensive?

And Israel’s prime minister is visiting.

On Monday, he met with President Obama.

They discussed Syria, Iran, Egypt, and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

Afterward, the president said: “Our unshakeable bond with the Israeli people is stronger than ever. Our commitment to Israel’s security is stronger than ever.”

And the Israeli prime minister said: “Mr. President, you know and the American people know that there is no better ally – more reliable, more stable, more democratic – other than Israel in a very raw, dangerous place,” referring to the Middle East.

The U.S. and Israel: shared values, shared goals.
