Last week, Secretary of State John Kerry made a major policy address at AJC’s annual Global Forum.

His stirring speech presented a vision of peace between Israel and the Palestinians.

It’s a vision AJC has long shared – two states, Israel and Palestine, for two peoples, living side by side in peace and security.

And speaking of security, Kerry could not have been clearer.

“Make no mistake,” he said. “President Obama and I share your unshakeable commitment to Israel’s security.”

Importantly, four consecutive Israeli prime ministers – Barak, Sharon, Olmert, and Netanyahu – have supported a two-state vision.

But so far, and despite vital American help, each has failed to achieve it.

The reason?

The absence of a Palestinian partner with the political courage and will to strike a deal.

Let’s hope it’s different this time. For the sake of the children – Israeli and Palestinian alike.
