This is written in response to the recent opinion piece "Stop ignoring routineness of the occupation" on the May 14 Commentary page in the Chicago Tribune.
The piece was written by Ori Nir, spokesman for Americans for Peace Now, an American Jewish nonprofit that is the sister organization of Israel's Peace Now movement.
The piece asks us to calculate the damage done by Israelis in their quest to keep children safe from terror attacks, yet fails to mention the literally thousands of rockets that Palestinian terrorists have used to target Israeli civilians.
Nir also ignores Palestinian suicide bombings that have terrorized Israelis for decades and ignores the damage actually caused by rocks thrown at civilian cars.
There is, of course, no mention of the countless attempts Israelis have made to reach an agreement between two states living side by side in peace, rather than at war.
Opinion pieces like this are exactly the type of one-sided narrative that inhibits change and prevents peace.
