Much attention has been focused this week on the U.S.-Israel relationship.
The American and Israeli leaders met in the White House. And both also gave widely-covered speeches.
The bottom line is what it’s always been: The U.S. and Israel are friends and partners.
President Obama commented that “the bond between our two countries is unbreakable… This is a bond that is based not only on our mutual security interests and economic interests, but is also based on common values and the incredible people-to-people contacts that we have between our two countries.”
And Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu noted “[W]hen Americans look around the Middle East today, they see one reliable, stable, faithful ally of the United States, and that’s the democracy of Israel… We’re together. So if there’s one thing that stands out clearly in the Middle East today, it’s that Israel and America stand together.”
America and Israel. Shared values, shared vision.
