Iran is in the headlines.

The Iranian president and foreign minister are in New York, holding meetings by the dozens.

There’s speculation about whether this is a mere “charm offensive” or a real change of direction.

Meanwhile, two top senators, Democrat Chuck Schumer and Republican John McCain, have just written to President Obama.

Here’s an excerpt:

“Dear Mr. President,

“First, we strongly believe it must be reemphasized that it is [U.S.] policy not to allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapons capability.

“Second, we believe the [U.S.] must make use of all elements of our national power to pressure Iran, including the aggressive implementation of existing sanctions.

“Third, it is important you reiterate to Iran the seriousness of our resolve. [N]o one should question American intent to act against Iran’s nuclear program. “

Their bipartisan message couldn’t be more important or timely.
