It’s that time of year here in New York.

World leaders gather at the UN.

Traffic grinds to a halt.

And the Iranian president shows up again to see whom he can snooker.

In years past, he’s tried telling such whoppers as Iran has no gay women or men and that women in his country are the world’s freest.

And that the Holocaust never happened and Israel has no right to exist.

Now he’s declaring that Iran is among the world’s most open and free countries.

Sure, tell that to the opposition which has been intimidated, brutalized, arrested, and tortured.

And he’s declaring that Iran is the world’s most peaceful country.

Tell that to the UN Security Council and International Atomic Energy Agency, which beg to differ. They believe Iran is pursuing a nuclear-weapons program that poses a clear and present global danger.

The Iranian president may be his country’s snake-oil salesman-in-chief. But we Americans aren’t buying.
