The full text of this week’s commentary follows:
Iran is back in the news big-time.
The International Atomic Energy Agency, or IAEA, just issued a report that's gotten lots of attention.
The UN body "has serious concerns regarding possible military dimensions to Iran's nuclear program."
Meanwhile, of course, Iran denies everything.
If you believe that, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.
An Iranian bomb would pose a profound danger to the Middle East and the world.
That's why the U.S. and Europe have said they'll do everything possible to prevent Iran from getting the bomb.
Tougher UN sanctions on Iran's vulnerable energy and banking sectors would be a good first step.
But Russia and China don't want to spoil their cozy economic ties with Iran. Let's hope they change their mind quickly.
AJC has long been alerting the world to Iran's dangerous nuclear policy. Given the new IAEA report, we'll redouble our efforts.
