Condolences Sent to Russian President Putin

February 24, 2006 New York – The American Jewish Committee has sent a letter of condolence to Russian President Vladimir Putin expressing sympathies for the tragic collapse of a roof at a Moscow market, which left at least 50 dead and many injured.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost loved ones, with the injured for whom we wish a full and speedy recovery, and with all Russian citizens in this most trying of times,” wrote AJC President E. Robert Goodkind and Executive Director David A. Harris.
