September 19, 2012 – Paris – AJC strongly condemned an attack on a kosher supermarket in Sarcelles, a Paris suburb. At least one person was injured in the lunchtime assault, after two individuals dressed in black threw explosive devices into the crowded market.
"We expect a strong response from the French authorities," said Simone Rodan-Benzaquen, director of AJC Paris. AJC, the global Jewish advocacy organization, maintains close ties with the French Jewish community, as well as the government.
Today’s attack took place a day after Jews celebrated the new year, Rosh Hashanah, and less than six months after the murderous atrocities of Toulouse and Montauban, when a lone gunman targeted the Jewish community and the French army, killing seven individuals.
