There’s something wrong.

Since 9/11, hundreds of thousands of our servicemen and women have been placed in harm’s way. Many have made the ultimate sacrifice.

But what about the rest of us?

What have we been asked to do?

Nothing. Why? Why haven’t we been asked by our elected officials to do something concrete?

They seem to fear asking anything meaningful of us.

And so we have a bizarre situation. While our troops put their lives on the line, many of us go about business as usual.

What can we do?

Above all, change our energy habits. Dependence on oil from hostile countries is our nation’s Achilles’ heel. There are no two ways about it. It’s so painfully obvious.

We need to tell our elected officials to get serious—and fast. The times cry out for bold and visionary leadership.

And we need to think about how each of us can save fuel, starting today.

Together, America, we can do it.
