The full text of this week's commentary follows:
The Middle East continues to
be in turmoil.
Egypt, the Arab world’s
largest country, is now ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood.
That’s the same Muslim
Brotherhood which hasn't exactly been our best friend.
In Syria, more than 20,000 people
have been killed since the fighting there began last year.
Countless more are in
prison, hiding, or exile.
In Lebanon, Hezbollah
maintains its grip on the country.
That’s the same Hezbollah responsible
for killing American servicemen and countless others.
And it’s the same Hezbollah
that’s on the U.S. terrorism list, but, inexplicably, not Europe's -- at least
Then there’s Iran.
It defiantly pursues its nuclear
ambitions, sponsors terrorism, stomps on human rights, and promotes anti-Semitism.
Amidst all this turmoil,
there’s one country in the region that we can count on... that shares our outlook... and
that’s a bastion of democracy and dynamism.
The country? Israel.
