LISTEN.

As always, the Middle East is in the news.

And most of the news isn't good.

Syria continues its butchery.

Nine thousand-plus Syrians have been killed since anti-regime protests began last year.

In Lebanon, two-thirds of the Cabinet is linked to Hezbollah.

Yes, the same Hezbollah that blew up the Marine barracks and killed 241 Americans.

Al Qaeda continues to operate in Yemen.

Thankfully, America just disrupted the latest plan to target a plane, but the threat remains.

Iran continues its defiant march to weapons of mass destruction.

Hamas continues to rule Gaza.

The list goes on.

But there is some good news.

There's one Middle East country that's staunchly democratic.

One country that's protective of the rights of women, gays, and freedom of worship.

One country that's a reliable American ally, contributing to our security in more ways than many realize.

That country is Israel.

Israel and the U.S. Shared values, shared goals.
