The Planned Giving Assistant will work under the supervision of the National Director of Planned Giving in the performance of the following primary duties:

  • Prepare donor planned gift proposals, drafting of charitable planned gift agreements, and support for the charitable gift annuity program.
  • Manage and organize planned gift administration including updating planned giving donor and prospect electronic and hard files.
  • Work with the Director of Planned Giving on charitable trust and estate matters including maintaining records for bequests received, tracking relevant metrics, and processing documents.
  • Provide administrative support to the Director of Planned Giving, including responsibility for email, letter and phone communications with donors, prospects, attorneys, and AJC staff.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department and Director of Planned Giving on the development and preparation of marketing materials to promote AJC’s Planned Giving Program including: special mailings, website material, email blasts, and video campaigns.
  • Coordinate planned giving donor recognition society initiatives, including the quarterly conference call briefings for planned giving donors.
  • Serve as a liaison to lay leaders and to members of AJC’s Planned Giving Committee and Investment Subcommittee.
  • Support the Director of Planned Giving in organizing meetings of AJC’s National Planned Giving Committee and Investment Subcommittee, as well as other planned giving programs.
  • Attend and participate in select Development evening events, as requested by the AJC National Director of Development.
  • Attend Development Department staff meetings and other meetings as needed.



    • Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred.
    • Previous law firm experience or experience working for a not for profit organization preferred; two to three years working in legal or development fields is a plus.
    • Proficient in Word, Outlook, and Excel.
    • Positive work ethic and an ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and proofreading skills necessary.
    • Detail-oriented and effective time manager, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a demanding work environment.
    • Ability to follow systems and procedures while also exhibiting creative thinking
    • Passion for the mission of AJC is a plus.
    • Interest in learning about the various aspects of planned giving.
    • Experienced or willing to receive training to become proficient in Raiser’s Edge and Planned Giving software.
    • Active Notary Public, State of New York is a plus.
