The Director of Administration directs all of the administrative and operational functions of OGIA, with staff located in Washington, DC, New York and around the world. Working in coordination with other senior staff and especially closely with the Director of OGIA, this position helps set and implement OGIA’s strategic vision, provides overall leadership around advocacy campaigns, projects, and programs, helps monitor and guide all of the financial aspects of OGIA, and is the lead person for all aspects of human resources related to OGIA including, but not limited to, hiring and termination, performance reviews, and goal setting.

Responsibilities include:

Strategic Planning

  • In coordination with the COO, provide a leadership role in overall OGIA plans for implementing annual priorities and strategic planning, including inter-departmental coordination around advocacy and operations

Leadership, Culture and Values

  • Motivate and lead a high-performance, diverse, and multi—cultural team of directors and foster a success-oriented, accountable environment within the organization
  • Collaborate with other AJC lay and staff leadership to ensure the successful implementation of strategic plan initiatives in OGIA
  • Manage and enforce internal processes designed to make AJC a better place to work
  • Ensure effective internal communications systems are developed and implemented within OGIA to maximize transparency and motivate staff commitment and teamwork
  • Establish short and long-term organizational goals, objectives, budgets, protocols and systems that support OGIA contributions to overall AJC priorities


  • Working in coordination with the CFO’s office, provide financial oversight for all OGIA departments.
  • Have a deep understanding of departmental revenues and expenses within OGIA, restricted funds, and be able to produce cash flow projections.

Human Resources

  • Working in coordination with the Human Resources Department, facilitate the acquisition and termination of staff and negotiating employee contracts (both foreign and domestic)
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for all OGIA directors and assist each department with annual goal setting.


  • In coordination with the COO, work closely with, and be a liaison to, operational functions at AJC including, but not limited to, Human Resources (both foreign and domestic), Finance, IT, and Legal
  • Oversee the collection of relevant data from OGIA departments re activities, meetings, and media
  • Review and approve expense reports and other financial statements for all OGIA departments
  • Review and approve all vacation requests for OGIA directors
  • Review and approve all travel requests for OGIA directors


  • Passion for the mission of AJC
  • Bachelor degree required; Master’s or other professional degree preferred
  • At least seven years’ of management experience with a commitment to a collaborative leadership style
  • Ability to travel internationally several times per year
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to bring immediate credibility to the government and international function through his/her professional qualifications and leadership skills, as well as to project the highest levels of integrity
  • Ability to work with diverse organizational leadership to build consensus around organizational strategies and tactics
  • Ability to make tough decisions and follow through on agreed upon initiatives, work collaboratively, yet firmly when needed
  • The ability to creatively and practically solve problems
  • Outstanding organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Excellent project management skills, ability to manage data and develop, implement and oversee budgets
  • An entrepreneurial mindset; able to identify and pursue opportunities
