The regional offices maintain the agency's nationwide presence, attracts leaders and donors to AJC,enhances the agency's influence with key local, national and international decision makers and stakeholders, implements advocacy initiatives at the state/local level, establish and nurtures community relationships, and serve as AJC's eyes and ears on the ground.

The Assistant Director, Development will manage key elements of the Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey fundraising program, working with staff and leadership to ensure that AJC reaches its annual revenue goals through annual fundraising dinners, appeals and outreach/cultivation events. In addition, the Assistant Director, Development will work with the national office on planned giving and help with foundation solicitation and solicitation of major gifts.The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the general education and programming work of AJC in the Regional Office catchment areas of Philadelphia, PA, DE and Southern NJ- Camden, Burlington, Atlantic & Cape May Counties as well as Buck Country and New Hope areas.

Position Responsibilities:

Primary Fundraising Responsibilities:
  • Works with Regional Director to manage annual fund raising $750,000; recruit solicitors, assign solicitations and provide solicitation training; track campaign gifts and provide ongoing updates to solicitors; organize at least two appeal-related programs each year for top-level donors
  • Helps to implement at least 4 award dinners each year raising $150,000-$250,000 each; liaise with dinner honorees; design and mail invitations; organize follow up solicitations to invitees; coordinate dinner logistics with hotel
  • Market planned giving materials to local members and coordinate follow up with national AJC planned giving office
  • Help manage the cultivation and solicitation of annual gifts
  • Serve as liaison to AJC membership and marketing committee which supports allfundraising events
  • Oversee management of gift entry and donor information into national and local databases
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and execution of general AJC programs and activities
  • Perform other tasks needed to support overall office effectiveness
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Fundraising experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with Raisers Edge software
  • Passion for AJC’s mission, policy positions and advocacy (including Israel security, world Jewry, human rights, immigration, energy and contemporary Jewish life)

  • Regional travel throughout catchment area
  • Availability for early morning, evening and weekend meetings.
