The full text of this week's commentary follows:

It’s not every day that more than 80 senators, evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans, agree on something.

And nearly 400 members of the House of Representatives, again in strong bipartisan fashion, stand together.

Indeed, in today’s polarized political environment, such agreement is noteworthy.

What unites these elected officials?

It’s grave concern about Iran – and the fear it may be taking us for a ride in the current talks on its nuclear program.

The legislators express the hope that the negotiations will succeed in preventing Iran “from ever developing a nuclear weapons capability.”

But, and here’s the gist of their position: “We must signal unequivocally to Iran that rejecting negotiations and continuing its nuclear weapons program will lead to much more dramatic sanctions…”

At AJC, we fully agree with these strong, bipartisan majorities in Congress.
