Thinking about New Year's resolutions?

Typically, many of us think on two levels-about ourselves and our families.

Let me suggest a third.

President Kennedy said: "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

Our country needs our help.

We're dependent on oil from some nasty places.

The result is that American security is weakened.

But we can fight back. Think twice about your next vehicle. How fuel efficient is it? And there are other easy ways to cut back on energy use.

It's also high time for our elected leaders to show some leadership.

Last year, we at AJC became the first nonprofit to help our employees buy fuel-efficient vehicles.

In 2007, our resolution is to make our headquarters a green-certified building.

American security, environment and economy will all benefit if we can break our energy addiction.

Won't you make doing your part a New Year's resolution?
