There's lots of talk about America's energy challenge. But usually action lags far behind words.

At AJC, we're trying to ensure that it keeps pace.

We've been active in calling on elected officials in both parties to show courage and leadership. The state of our national security, economy, and environment all hang in the balance. We need major initiatives to reduce our dependence on oil from hostile countries-and now.

We're seeking “green” certification for our headquarters. That means our building, and the staff who work there, are environmentally conscious, including reducing wasteful energy use.

And this week we launched an incentive program for our staff to purchase fuel-efficient, environmentally-friendly vehicles. To the best of our knowledge, we're the first nonprofit agency in the country to do so. We hope others will follow suit.

Let's remember. We're all in this energy crunch together. The “power” to get us out of it is in our hands.
